VIETNAM WAR PHOTO

AP STANDS BY THE PULITZER PRIZE WINNING PHOTOGRAPHER

The authorship of the iconic Vietnam War photo of the young “Napalm Girl”, Kim Phuc,  fleeing down a road in a village is being questioned.

‘The Terror of War” photo was taken on a road in Trang Bang on June 8, 1972.

Huynh Cong Ut (Nick Ut) won a Pulitzer Prize for the photo taken while working for the Associate Press.

Fifty years later a photographer who was among a number of competing photographers and journalists on the same stretch of road that day claims to be the author of the photo.

The AP conducted an investigation, and came to a slightly different conclusion than the World Press Photo.
